Rootpad FAQ (testnet)
The basics
1. What is Rootpad?
Experimental software to create and trade meme coins on Robinhood Chain. Every coin is born with a Root vault: ETH locked in a contract. For now it only exists on testnet. Not affiliated with Robinhood.
2. What is the testnet?
A copy of the network, for testing only (chain 46630). The ETH comes from a faucet and has no value. On testnet you neither make nor lose real money, as long as you use a test-only wallet and check you are on chain 46630: a fake site can ask you to sign on mainnet. Testing gives you no rights to anything: no tokens, no points, no airdrop. The testnet exists to find bugs before any mainnet. If someone asks you for real ETH "for the testnet", it's a scam.
3. What is the bonding curve?
It's how every coin starts. A contract sells 750 million tokens: the price goes up with each buy and down with each sell. The formula makes the price at the end of the curve 4× the starting price; this describes the curve, it is not a forecast. Many coins may never reach the end. When the curve holds 10 ETH, the coin graduates.
4. What happens at graduation?
The curve closes and the ETH is split:
- 2/3 (6.67 ETH) go to a Uniswap pool, with 250 million tokens. That liquidity is locked in a contract with no function to remove it.
- 1/3 (3.33 ETH) goes to the Root vault.
5. What is a pool?
A contract holding tokens and ETH. Buying = putting ETH in and taking tokens out (the price goes up). Selling = putting tokens in and taking ETH out (the price goes down). The formula keeps tokens × ETH constant: the pool never runs out, it only gets more expensive.
A small pool moves a lot: right after graduation, with 6.67 ETH, a 1 ETH buy moves the price about 32%.
6. What is the supply?
The number of tokens that exist. Every Rootpad coin has 1,000,000,000 (one billion), created at once. Nobody can create more. Buying just changes who holds them. Every burn destroys tokens forever, and the supply goes down.
Split: 750M sold on the curve, 250M for the pool, 0% for the creator.
7. What is market cap?
Price × supply. It is not money that exists anywhere: it's the last trade's price multiplied by every token. On a Rootpad coin it starts at 6.7 ETH; if the coin graduates, at that moment it is 26.7 ETH. The real ETH sits in the pool and in the Root vault.
The Root vault
8. What is the Root vault?
The Root vault is ETH locked in a contract, tied to each coin. Any holder can burn tokens and receive their share, minus 2%.
- Filled by: 0.5% of every trade; 1/3 of the curve's ETH at graduation; the extra from the anti-sniper fee; the 2% left by whoever exits.
- Emptied by: every redemption takes out the leaver's share.
- The creator has no function in the contract to withdraw the vault: verified contract.
- The Root vault does not protect you from losses and is not a source of profit.
9. What is the redemption value?
Root vault ÷ supply. It's what the contract pays right now for each token burned, before the 2% exit fee and gas.
- At graduation it's about 1/8 of the price at that moment (12.5%). Against the average price paid on the curve, it's about 1/4. That does not mean you get back 1/4 of what you paid: it depends on when you bought and on what happens next, and there is still the 2% fee and gas.
- It changes with every trade and every redemption.
- On the explorer, the vault contract shows this value under the technical name
floorPerToken, in wei (the smallest unit of ETH). The name comes from the code: the number is the same redemption value, before the 2% exit fee, and it does not guarantee any minimum price. - The redemption value is not a guaranteed minimum price.
10. What is burning? What is "Return to the soil"?
Burning destroys tokens forever. On Rootpad, when you burn, you receive your share of the Root vault. The button is called "Return to the soil".
ETH received = Root vault × (tokens burned ÷ supply) × 0.98
It is final: the tokens no longer exist. Gas is paid separately.
11. A redemption example, with the maths
Example 1, round numbers (not a real coin):
- Supply 1,000M, Root vault 10 ETH. You hold 10M tokens (1% of supply).
- Your share: 10 ETH × 1% = 0.1 ETH.
- Minus 2%: 0.1 × 0.98 = 0.098 ETH (plus gas, paid separately).
- After: the vault holds 9.902 ETH and the supply is 990M. The redemption value per token for those who stay rises a little, because your 2% stayed there.
Example 2, right after graduation (simulation test case: a single buy fills the curve):
- The Root vault holds ~3.38 ETH (3.33 from graduation + curve fees).
- Burning 1M tokens pays ≈ 0.0033 ETH.
- At the pool price at that moment, 1M tokens are worth ≈ 0.027 ETH. Redeeming pays about 1/8 of that.
12. Sell or burn: which pays more?
Hypothetical example with round numbers (not a real coin and not a forecast): supply 1,000M, price $0.0001, Root vault $20,000, you hold 1M tokens.
| Sell in the pool | Burn | |
|---|---|---|
| Normal price ($0.0001) | ~$100, minus 1% fee | $20 × 0.98 = $19.60 |
In normal conditions, selling in the pool pays more than redeeming. If the pool price sits below about 97% of the redemption value, buying and burning starts to pay for whoever does it, and some bots do. Rootpad does not do it and does not guarantee it: the price can stay below the redemption value, and the vault's ETH is worth whatever ETH is worth.
Fees and rules
13. Where does the 1% of each trade go?
| To | % of the trade |
|---|---|
| Root vault | 0.5% |
| Creator | 0.3% (paid even with zero tokens) |
| Rootpad | 0.2% |
It applies on the curve and, after graduation, in the pool. In the pool, a Uniswap v4 hook charges the 1% in ETH and splits it the same way. The token is a plain ERC-20 with no transfer tax; some scanners may show the pool's 1% as "tax".
The table with the creator's and Rootpad's addresses is shown on every coin. Exemptions: none.
14. What is the anti-sniper fee?
In each coin's first seconds, the buy fee on the curve is higher:
| Seconds after creation | 0 | 5 | 10 | 20 | 29 or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Buy fee | 30% | 25% | 20% | 10% | 1% |
- It drops 1 point per second. Everything paid above 1% goes entirely to the Root vault.
- Sells don't pay it.
- No exemptions: the creator, the factory and Rootpad pay the same.
- Nobody can buy in the coin's creation block, not even the creator.
- It reduces snipers; it doesn't remove them. On a first-come-first-served network, whoever is fastest still gets there first.
15. Does the creator get tokens?
No: 0%. The creator earns 0.3% of every trade (curve and pool), even with zero tokens. They can buy like anyone else, after the creation block, paying the same anti-sniper fee.
Why 0%: free tokens would give the creator a share of the Root vault without paying for it.
16. Is there an automatic price defense?
No. The Root vault never buys or burns tokens on its own. If the price falls below the redemption value, anyone can buy and burn. The site has a "Buy and burn" button for that: it shows, with current numbers, whether buying and returning the tokens to the soil right away would give back more ETH than you pay. It takes 2 separate transactions and the price can move in between; automated bots see the same thing and often get there first. Not a recommendation.
In the simulation, an automatic defense added almost nothing, and a badly built one made the redemption value go down.
17. Why is there no Rootpad token?
Because the product doesn't need one.
There is no Rootpad token, no presale and no airdrop, and using the testnet gives no right to any. If anyone offers you a "Rootpad token", it's a scam.
Risks
18. Can I lose money?
Yes, even all of it. Not on testnet, because the ETH is test ETH (use a test-only wallet). But Rootpad is built for meme coins, and most new coins lose most of their value. The risks, plainly:
- The Root vault does not protect you. Buying the top of a pump can get you almost nothing back: ~3% in a simulated pump & dump, and it can be less.
- With no volume, the Root vault stays small. In a simulated cold market (2 ETH/day), the vault went only from 3.46 to 4.07 ETH in 60 days.
- The contracts may have bugs. They are immutable: nobody can fix them. A bug or an attack could cause the loss of the vault, the liquidity or your tokens. There is no external audit yet.
- A group can buy the whole curve in the first second. It pays +41% (14.3 ETH instead of 10.1; the extra goes to the vault), but ends up with 75% of the supply. No on-chain rule stops it. Fungi show it; they don't stop it.
- Gas: on a small redemption, it can cost more than you receive.
- ETH goes up and down. The Root vault is in ETH.
- Other pools: anyone can create another pool for the same token with no fee. Volume that goes there doesn't feed the vault.
- Liquidity: there may be no buyer at the price you see.
- Scams: fake copies of coins and sites exist. Always check the contract address.
- The network and the site can fail. Transactions can fail and gas is not refunded.
- Fungi signals are automated checks, not guarantees. A coin with no risk signals can still lose all its value.
Not financial advice.
About us
19. Is Rootpad part of Robinhood?
No. Rootpad is an independent project, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected with Robinhood Markets, Inc. or its group companies. "Robinhood Chain" is a Robinhood trademark, used here only to identify the network Rootpad runs on. Rootpad does not use Robinhood logos.
20. Does any authority supervise Rootpad?
Rootpad is not authorised or supervised by Banco de Portugal, the CMVM or any other financial authority. For now it only exists on testnet, with no real money.
21. Who is Dig?
I'm Dig, an AI agent. I can be wrong. I show on-chain data and risk signals. I don't tell anyone what to buy or sell, and I don't recommend coins. Will it go up? I don't know. Nobody knows. I just dig.
22. When is mainnet?
Rootpad is testnet only: the coins and the test ETH have no value. There is no mainnet for now.
23. Where can I check all this?
